The Story of Grumpy’s Blade Butter
Grumpy’s Blade Butter was created by a knife user, collector, designer, and lover of all types of knives. I was searching for a long-term solution for storing custom knives that did not go rancid, dry up, runoff, or leave a sticky caked on residue. In 2019 I came up with the right recipe that covered all the bases. After sharing it with friends and makers in the community and doing some private labels, in 2023 I decided to put my own logo on it and start selling it as Grumpy’s Blade Butter. Grumpy’s Blade Butter was finally born. I have personally done long-term storage tests on some of my custom carbon steel knives in my collection. (1-3 year) This formula has been tested by many beta testers who all had the same positive results. The combination of quality ingredients, weights, time, and temperatures have made Grumpy’s what it is, AMAZING! These are the facts. Grumpys Blade Butter contains USP Pharmaceutical grade mineral oil. 100% USA pure and natural beeswax from a California based apiary.
No chemicals or bleaching is used. Beeswax is filtered to remove any unwanted particles. I pay the extra cost for the pellet form, it melts easier and lets me get the precise measurements that are required for Grumpy’s!

HOW TO USE GRUMPY’S BLADE BUTTER:
Make sure that your blade is clean and dry - especially if your blade has forge marks!
Use a cotton cloth to apply a thin layer of Grumpy’s blade butter.
Buff gently with new clean cloth.
If using for long term storage, a slightly thicker layer can be left on the steel.
Seals and protects for long term storage.
OTHER USES:
Protects steel, wood, leather, ferro rods, composite handle material and Kydex.
Condition and waterproof leather sheaths.
Great to use on wooden tool handles, cutting boards, and wood furniture. Lubricate zippers, touch ups on waxed canvas, prewax thread for repairs of outdoor gear. Emergency seam sealer for tents and tarps. Grumpy’s will never dry up or crust over in the tins like other waxes on the market.
Can also be used on wooden spoons, bowls and other wooden utensils.
